This means that you will see a new set of twenty Civil Enforcement Officers walking the streets, working to tackle the problems of illegal parking, which in many cases causes significant inconvenience.
Parking enforcement is an important tool in the safe management of our streets, and the changes to the way parking rules will be enforced are intended to ensure that the streets are kept clear for everyone.
As part of the new system, there will also be some changes to the penalty charges with the creation of two levels of fee, depending on the seriousness of the offence. The top penalty will cost £70, while less serious offences will cost £50. There is a 50% discount for drivers who pay their penalty charges within 14 days.
The majority of motorists who follow the regulations when they park will not notice any real change to on-street parking apart from regularly seeing the new Civil Enforcement Officers.
More details about the new parking enforcement can be found on the Parking pages of the West Berkshire Council website.
