Newbury Berkshire: Ranger project transfers to local charity

Ranger project transfers to local charity

West Berkshire Council has successfully arranged for the Community Furniture Project to take over operating the popular Ranger Official Active Response (ROAR) group.

The new arrangement will mean residents with disabilities will be offered an extended range of activities including woodwork projects and office experience, as well as the outdoor clean-up and woodland regeneration work that they could previously take part in.
Joe Mooney, West Berkshire Executive Councillor for Community Care said: "I am very pleased that the Community Furniture Project has agreed to continue this popular and successful project. It shows the way in which the Council is working closely with other local organisations to make sure that people can have a choice about how to spend their personal budgets."
Kelvin Hughes from the Community Furniture Project said: "We are extremely happy that we have been able to facilitate the continuation of ROAR which is highly valued by the people who take part. Whilst continuing with its existing activities we will also be providing an expanded range of opportunities for people to engage in activities that not only support the individual but also the wider local community."
