Boy arrested following attempted robbery

Thames Valley Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy from Newbury in connection with an attempted robbery.

He has been released on bail to return to Newbury police station on July 1.

The incident happened in the Wellington Close area at around 4pm on June 1.

The victim, a 13-year-old boy, was riding home in an alleyway from Cromwell Close towards Wellington Close, when he was approached by a man who pushed him, causing him to fall over.

The offender then punched the victim twice in the face and tried to steal his bike. However, the victim fought back and the offender made off.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to this incident and anyone with any information should contact Det Con Louise Schofield, at Newbury police station, on 0845 8 505 505.
